What is BMP format?
BMP (Bitmap) is an uncompressed image format from Windows. It stores every pixel without compression, resulting in very large files. BMP files are common from old screenshots, scanners, and legacy software.
How much smaller will files be?
JPG files are typically 90-95% smaller than BMP files. A 5MB BMP file might become a 300KB JPG with excellent quality.
Will I lose quality?
JPG uses lossy compression, but at 85% quality (our default), the difference is barely noticeable. The massive file size reduction is worth it for most uses.
